How RouteConverter Bridges the Gap

RouteConverter understands three core data types: waypoints, tracks, and routes (see Understanding the Big Three for a primer). One of its most useful capabilities is converting between them. Since different devices and apps want different shapes, use the Type dropdown in the right-hand panel to switch:

Converting Track to Route

If you have a recorded track with 5,000 points, it's often too "heavy" for a navigation device to use as a route. RouteConverter lets you filter and simplify those points, turning a messy breadcrumb trail into a clean, navigable route of just 50 or 100 essential points.

Converting Route to Track

Sometimes you want to lock in a planned route so it never changes, regardless of which map or device you use. By converting a route to a track, RouteConverter creates a static line that follows the roads exactly, preserving your plan as a permanent path.

Merging and Splitting

• Merge: Combine several waypoints into a single route.
• Split: Break a long multi-day track into individual daily segments.
